Householding

What is Householding?
»»   The grouping of all accounts associated with one person into one contact record.

Why Household?
»»   You can aggregate Portfolios for accounts in contact record (2 to All).
»»   You can consolidate records:  all contacts with a client are contained in one location.
»»   You can expedite retrieval of contact record:  one record per name.
»»   You can create a marketing / asset-gathering opportunity.  If a client holds an account with another advisor, you can create a mock account on that client's contact record and demonstrate how you would advise them while seeing everything on one report.

How do I Household?
»»   Choose the primary contact record to which you wish to add the other accounts.
»»   Pull up the account you wish to add:  (1) click on the Accounts button;  (2) type the account number, OR (1) click Person and type the name;  (2) click OK;  (3) select the account number and click OK.
»»   Change Owner:  (1) click in the Owner field (where the name is);  (2) click Person, type the name of the primary contact, select that name and click OK;  (3) click OK on Account Information page.
»»  Confirm that the Contact record has no accounts attached to it, and that all information on the contact record is duplicated on the primary contact record.
»»  Delete unused Contact record.  After closing the Account Information page, you will be take back to the Contact page that was previously associated with the account.  There should be no account showing in the Accounts window; if this is the case, you may now delete the Contact record.  Select Actions from the pull-down menu, then Delete.
»»  Repeat process as needed.

Helpful Hint
»»  Use the Call List feature to facilitate the householding process:  (1) Create a "Sales List" of all clients, making sure to keep duplicate 'whoms';  (2) Call the list;  (3) Household as described above;  (4) Mark primary contact as 'successful'; while at the primary contact record, click the Disposition tab at the lower right, click Successful, then click OK.  Quit the list whenever you want to.  You can resume the householding process by returning to the Sales Manager, clicking Resume, clicking the list, and clicking Call.
